Watching the performance from Les Miserables last night, it really ground into me that the rich always have and always will find ways to not only make more money that the “have nots” but they also design the system of government, taxation, banking, housing, food supply, etc, etc to keep people apathetic and hopeless.

I want to fight. I yearn for something I can hold onto that will help keep my faith in humanity alive. This hop elessness is permeating my life. The only thing I know to do is to keep people informed via social media. I read and read and find ways to summarize in 140 characters or less. Or, I make sure there is a good photo to visually represent the issue. I provide ways to make the situation better.

I have to accept that the majority of people dont want that. If they are content in their own lives, why would they lift a finger to help anyone else? The jobless and homeless should go get a job themselves… Why ask for “hand outs” or demand “entitlements”?? WHY?? Because people need help and its not that fucking easy.

Government says middle class is someone earing $250, 000 PER YEAR??? Holy WHAT?? What does that make me, at $35, 000?? Some people make $12k!!! What the hell is going on and WHY IS NO ONE DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT??

The super rich are too powerful? Take away that power. They have too much influence? Why is anyone listening? For personal gain? Im really, really tired of the fact that we just accept the idea that our politicians are corrupt and take money from lobbyists in order to sway their votes / decisions. WHY IS THAT ACCEPTABLE?

I wish there was just an area some of us could go to in order to grow our own food… Raise a family / community farm without any government involvement. OR, here’s a novel idea… a government that actually wants to help its people. What. An. Idea.

Keep the playing field level and shut the hell up. Are you THAT insecure about you candidate that you need to cheat in order to win? How about you place a candidate that actually cares about people? Someone that has some interest in helping this nation, not just a talking head.

The only thing that keeps me from completely attacking Romney is seeing that he chose Ryan against the wishes of his party. Despite vocal opposition from some of his major financiers, he kept his campaign manager at a time they wanted to oust him. That loyalty means something to me.

It also means something that the GOP feels it a legitimate course of action to silence a particular group of people. This is dirty politics and it makes me ashamed to be part of this political process. The Dept of Justice is allowing it?? Even worse.

THIS From Salon.com July 27, 2012

Florida’s disgraced former GOP chairman, Jim Greer, says the party had meetings about “keeping blacks from voting”

In the deposition, released to the press yesterday, Greer mentioned a December 2009 meeting with party officials. “I was upset because the political consultants and staff were talking about voter suppression and keeping blacks from voting,” he said, according to the Tampa Bay Times. He also said party officials discussed how “minority outreach programs were not fit for the Republican Party,” according to the AP.

I hope the ACLU tracks how many votes will be recorded as “provisional” when people show up to vote without the required forms of ID, as in Virginia:

Daily Press.com TODAY

The law expands the forms of acceptable ID used at the polls in Virginia to include a drivers license, employer issued photo ID, voter registration card, social security card, student ID from one of the state’s four-year universities, a paycheck or government-issued check, or a utility bill.

Failure to bring an acceptable ID on Election Day means a voter will have to cast a provisional ballot and will then have until noon on the Friday following an election to present valid ID to the local electoral board to get the vote counted. Voters do not need to go to the local election office to submit their ID but can submit it via fax, email or regular mail.

What is happening to this country. (Intentionally used a period instead of a question mark… Its more of a statement than a rhetorical question.

AWESOME.

Why is this info coming out 3 years after his death? How will it affect what he has done for in the organizing community? Will those that revered him feel slighted? Does this mean the FBI was behind arming the Black Panthers? If so, does this mean the government was inciting violence through an organizer? Was Aoki playing both sides? We all try to fit in with friends. We learn various clothing styles, make-up techniques, brand of shoes to purchase, etc by what we observe from our friends (nd magazines/ TV shows?). If we DONT do what our friends / coworkers are doing, what society deems acceptable, we risk being branded “a freak” or “abnormal” instead of Unique and Beautiful. Something unlike we’ve ever seen before… diamond in the rough…

In the past year, I have fallen in love with someone who does not feel like a boy or a girl 100% of the time. Their gender is fluid and I find them to be hot in every iteration of themselves. This person is kind, caring, loving and actively seeks to change this world for the better. They fight for the people that are frightened to fight for themselves. Although, ultimately we decided we couldn’t make it work between us, I am working to preserve what we do love about each other.

Through meeting this person, I have also been introduced to a world I wasn’t aware existed. The transgendered, gender non-conforming, gender queer, asexual, intersexed, queer world. These are some of the most lovely people I have ever had the pleasure to get to know. I often wonder if they are so loving and kind because they really, intensely desire the same respect for themselves.

But, for me, it seems they have every right to be full of anger. Anger at sneers on the street. Anger at being denied jobs, housing, acceptance by fellow human beings. All of this just for being themselves. They refuse to give in to the alternative, which would be to hide behind an identity that is not themselves, but what parents, teachers, or politicians say is right. Who are YOU to have an opinion on MY life? It perplexes me.

I now understand that as a “normal” (cis-gendered) female born and identified person, I am given a privilege in this society.

This weekend, I attended a workshop base around sex-positivity and healing not only from sexual trauma but also from our relationships. At this workshop, I ran into many friends and we shared very healing moments, discussing our lives and our confusions with love.

During one of the breaks, I ran into a friend I see fairly often (although we seem to IM more) and this person, who goes by many names… didn’t recognize me at first. I read it as any normal person zoning out. I wasn’t offended, nor did I see it as abnormal.

Later that night this person IM’d me. They said they realized that often is public spaces, they seem to keep to themselves unless they are certain they are surrounded by other gender non-conforming folks (GNC.) This was surprising to me, although it shouldnt be.

Society has cast this person out at times, subject them to verbal and perhaps physical violence. I only know them in social settings, so I don’t know any of this pain they must experience. It boggle my mind that they likely have to be very aware of the stores they choose to shop at, they are possibly fearful when meeting new people…

I love my friends. And, it makes me sad to know this is how other people make them feel. Our society has deemed this ok, acceptable and “Normal” to maltreat human beings.

Senate Republicans block Democrats' jobs bill

Senate Republicans block Democrats' jobs bill:
The measure was stopped dead in its tracks when Senate Republicans blocked it from being debated. The bill also is opposed by some large U.S. business groups.

It would have provided a 20 percent tax credit to companies that move production back to the United States. It also would end a tax break that companies can claim when closing a domestic plant, even if operations are moving abroad.

Banking Is a Criminal Industry Because Its Crimes Go Unpunished

Banking Is a Criminal Industry Because Its Crimes Go Unpunished:
So, July 2012 really isn’t abnormal at all. The reason for this is very simple. Over the past two decades, the financial services industry has become a pervasively unethical and highly criminal industry, with massive fraud tolerated or even encouraged by senior management. But how did that happen?

Well, deregulation helped, of course. But something else was far more important. It is the one critical factor that unites all of the episodes cited above, including those of this month. This critical unifying factor is the total number of criminal prosecutions of major firms and senior executives as a result of all of these crimes combined.

And what is that number?

Zero.

Literally zero. A number that neither President Obama nor Mitt Romney shows the slightest interest in changing.

Patty Anne Miller (by sytycdasb)

Patty Anne Miller (by sytycdasb)

Sarah Silverman's Indecent Proposal To Romney Supporter Sheldon Adelson (NSFW VIDEO)

Sarah Silverman's Indecent Proposal To Romney Supporter Sheldon Adelson (NSFW VIDEO):
Adelson, who has committed $100 million to defeat Barack Obama, may reconsider once he hears out Silverman’s indecent proposal: she’s offering to scissor him while wearing a bikini if he gives the $100 million to President Obama instead. Summing up her pitch, she says:

Do you how many Republican billionaires are giving money to Romney? All of them. How many of them are getting scissored by a bikini-bottomed Jewess with big naturals? How many, Sheldon?

EEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 13 Films You Must See at Outfest

The 13 Films You Must See at Outfest

I wanna see this!!!

I wanna see this!!!

Wells Fargo to pay $175 million to settle lending bias case

Wells Fargo to pay $175 million to settle lending bias case:
Violations of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and the Fair Housing Act allegedly took place in at least 82 geographic markets across 36 states and the District of Columbia.

“This resulted in more than 34,000 African American and Hispanic wholesale borrowers paying an increased rate for loans simply due to the color of their skin – including approximately 4,000 African-American and Hispanic wholesale borrowers who were steered into subprime mortgages,” Cole said.

As part of the settlement, Wells Fargo is to pay $125 million to those borrowers, “who were victimized by its widespread practice of charging higher fees and rates to non-white borrowers,” Cole said.
